Buffalo, N.Y. - It's a party fit for a pachyderm! Join the Buffalo Zoo and Perry's Ice Cream for the biggest birthday bash of the summer on August 26, 2007 as Buki, one of the Zoo's three female Asian elephants, turns 50!

Highlights of the celebration include elephant demonstrations, party games, raffles, crafts, a birthday cake provided by Tops and samples of Perry's delicious new ice cream flavors, Birthday Bash and the ever-popular Nutty Business, which was created in honor of this special occasion. (Please note that ice cream samples are on a first-come, first-served basis.) The Buffalo Zoo also wishes to thank New Era for providing the "birthday girl" with her very own party hat!

Activities (excluding feedings and raffles) are FREE with Zoo admission.

The event schedule is as follows:

10:30 a.m.   Bathtime with Buki

11:00 a.m.-  Pin the Tail on the Elephant party game

12:00 p.m.  

11:00 a.m.-  Enrichment crafts, birthday card crafts and coloring sheets for kids

4:00 p.m.

11:30 a.m. - Meet Perrywinkle, mascot of Perry's Ice Cream

12:30 p.m.

12:00 p.m.   Press Photo Opportunity/Sing Happy Birthday to Buki

12:00 p.m.   Perry's Prize Wheel (while prize supplies last)

12:15 p.m. - Free samples of Perry's Ice Cream flavors, "Nutty Business" and     

1:15 p.m.     "Birthday Bash" (while supplies last)

About Perry's Ice Cream Flavor, Nutty Business

Made with premium peanut butter ice cream, golden caramel swirls and chocolate covered peanuts, Nutty Business is sure to satisfy even an elephant-sized craving for nuts! This tasty treat was made in honor of Buki's birthday, and a portion of the proceeds from the sales of "Nutty Business" will go toward the "I ♥ Elephants" campaign to help raise money for the renovation of the Zoo's Elephant House. This new flavor is available at the Buffalo Zoo and select ice cream stands and retail locations throughout New York and Western Pennsylvania.
