Perry's Ice Cream and The Buffalo Sabres Team Up for Shoot! Score! Read More! Program

Regional Ice Cream Company and the Sabres Visit Local Schools to Promote Reading

Buffalo, N.Y. - October 1, 2008- Perry's Ice Cream and the Buffalo Sabres are teaming up for the third annual Shoot! Score! Read More! program, through which Sabres players will visit various elementary schools across the Buffalo region to read to first, second and third grade students and encourage their reading habits. 

A Sabres player will visit each school along with Sabretooth and Perry Winkle (Sabres and Perry's mascots) to read the book "Z is for Zamboni" by Matt Napier.  Each of the ten selected schools will also choose one student from first, second and third grade to be recognized for their excellence in reading.  Recognized students will receive a special autograph from the Buffalo Sabres player visiting their school and have the opportunity to assist the player in reading to their classmates. 

The following ten schools in the Buffalo area were selected to participate in the

2008-2009 Shoot! Score! Read More! Program:

1)     Buffalo Elementary School #6 - Buffalo, N.Y.

2)     Cleveland Hill Elementary School - Cheektowaga, N.Y.

3)     Eden Elementary School/Grover L. Priess Primary School - Eden, N.Y.

4)     Ellicott Road Elementary School - Orchard Park, N.Y.

5)     Fletcher Elementary School - Tonawanda, N.Y.

6)     Maryvale Elementary School - Cheektowaga, N.Y.

7)     Queen of Heaven Elementary School - West Seneca, N.Y.

8)     St. Mary's Elementary School - Lancaster, N.Y.

9)     Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School - Cheektowaga, N.Y.

10) Union Pleasant Elementary School - Hamburg, N.Y.
