Perry's Ice Cream, Buffalo Zoo Announce Baby Rhino Name Game Contest Winner Will Scoop Up Year's Supply of Ice Cream, Family Pass to Buffalo Zoo
Almost one year ago, Indian rhinoceroses Tashi and Hank made history when they brought their 115-pound daughter into the world at the Buffalo Zoo. Now that their baby rhino is all grown up — weighing in at over 700 pounds — she’s ready for a new identity.
The “Baby Rhino Name Game” kicks-off this Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Animal Planet Expo in Delaware Park. It’s easy to enter. Visit the Perry’s Ice Cream tent at the Expo to complete an entry form. Consumers can also visit www.NameTheRhino.com to complete an online entry form or mail their entry on a 3x5 card to “Baby Rhino Name Game,” care of Perry’s Ice Cream.
Sometimes it helps to see the face before attaching the name. Consumers can stop by the Buffalo Zoo — open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — to get another look at the baby rhino and complete an entry form at the Zootique Gift Shop, located at the zoo’s main entrance. All entries must be received by Friday, Sept. 9, 2005.
The contest winner will scoop up a year’s supply of Perry’s Ice Cream and a family season pass to the Buffalo Zoo. The winner will also be invited to join the Buffalo Zoo and Perry’s Ice Cream families in a special birthday celebration for the baby rhino at the Buffalo Zoo Saturday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m., during which the contest winner will be recognized and the baby rhino’s name revealed.

Founded in 1875, the Buffalo Zoo is the third oldest zoo in the United States, established after the Central Park Wildlife Center in New York in 1864 and the Philadelphia Zoological Garden in 1874. Each year, the Buffalo Zoo welcomes over 300,000 visitors and is the second largest tourist attraction in Western New York, second only to Niagara Falls. Located on 23.5 acres of Olmsted’s beautiful Delaware Park, the Buffalo Zoo provides interactive and educational family entertainment throughout the year. With a diverse collection of wild and exotic animals, and beautiful gardens throughout, visitors are introduced to and engulfed by nature each time they visit.
Perry’s Ice Cream, founded in 1918 by H. Morton Perry, is a family-owned and operated fourth generation ice cream manufacturer with frozen distribution services for Perry’s, Ben & Jerry’s, Friendly’s, Häagen-Dazs and Nestlé.
