Regional Ice Cream Company Announces Re-Supply Following PCA Recall
Buffalo, N.Y. - March 23, 2009 - Perry's peanut and peanut butter ice creams are now making their way back onto store shelves after Perry's voluntarily recalled a select number of ice cream products in January as a result of the FDA's Salmonella-related investigation into Peanut Corporation of America (PCA), one of Perry's former suppliers.
Perry's quality assurance and purchasing teams have thoroughly evaluated a replacement supplier that meets Perry's standards for products containing peanut butter sauce, granulated peanuts and Spanish peanuts.
Consumer safety has always been top priority according to executive vice-president, Brian Perry: "Food safety is our number one concern at Perry's. We have a 90-year reputation of delivering top quality, safe products to our consumers."
Consumers can be sure the ice cream they are purchasing is product manufactured by Perry's new supplier because all re-introduced products will be clearly stamped with the letters "NS" by the date located on the bottom of the package. Perry's was one of many companies affected by the recall. According to the Federal Drug Administration's website, "From the beginning of the recalls associated with the salmonella outbreak related to the Peanut Corporation of America (PCA), The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) has notified its regulatory counterparts in more than 50 countries and non-US territories that their country or territory may have received recalled peanuts or peanut products. As of March 11, 2009, more than 3,400 entries in 18 categories representing human and pet food products recalled by more than 300 firms."
