(Akron, N.Y.)—Perry’s Ice Cream Company, Inc. has announced the introduction of Carb Delite™, a new line of ice cream designed for the low-carb lifestyle, to appeal to the latest craze in healthy eating habits. The new line, with just three to four grams of net carbohydrates per serving, is available in Vanilla, Chocolate, Mint Chip and Butter Pecan.

Carb Delite™ fulfills the cravings that low-carb diets often create.” Perry’s reduces the carbohydrates in Carb Delite™ by replacing the sugar with sugar alcohols which are digested at a slower rate, and therefore, don’t affect blood sugar levels. Since this reformulation does not affect the fat content in the ice cream, which is what contributes to the flavor and texture, Carb Delite™ retains the same rich and creamy quality as Perry’s Premium Ice Cream products.

A study by The Hartman Group notes that nearly 188 million Americans (67% of the U.S. population) eat a diet low in carbohydrates, but does not necessarily recognize the diet specifically as low-carb diet. Diane Austin, Marketing Team Leader at Perry’s says nearly 32 million Americans are actually on a low-carb diet, and adds that Carb Delite™ is Perry’s response to the current consumer demand for great-tasting products for those leading a low-carb lifestyle.
