Perry’s Ice Cream Expands into Ohio Market

More than 600 locations across the state will carry Perry’s products,
as ice cream maker creates 49 jobs in Ohio

Perry’s Ice Cream Company, Inc., a Great Lakes regional brand and Upstate New York’s #1 ice cream choice, has announced an expansion of its products throughout Ohio. As a result of this expansion, Perry’s has created 49 jobs in Ohio, increasing its total company-wide employment by nearly 16 percent.

Beginning this month, Perry’s Ice Cream products will be available in more than 600 retailers and scoop shops across Ohio, and that number continues to grow. The largest chain carrying Perry’s products are Speedway convenience store locations throughout the state.

The fourth-generation, family-owned and operated company, based in Akron, N.Y., has dedicated more than a century to its craft. Known for its slow-cooked, exceptionally creamy ice cream, Perry’s uses high quality ingredients, fresh milk, and cream from local farms. Pint flavors that can be found at Speedway locations include signature Perry’s flavors such as Bad Breakup, Grasshopper Pie, Off the Grid, Panda Paws and Rocky Mountain Raspberry.

“There’s a distinctive identity among the Great Lakes that unifies our region and influences our palates. Since 2016, Perry’s world-class distribution network has delivered partner brand products throughout Ohio and expanding into the state with our brand is a natural next-step,” said Robert Denning, president and CEO of Perry’s Ice Cream. “Plans are underway to introduce our products to consumers in Cleveland and Columbus this summer, including supporting the local communities through partnerships and events. We look forward to sharing the great taste of Perry’s with our neighbors in the Great Lakes region.”

With the new jobs, wages, benefits, and investment in fuel, tolls, food and lodging, Perry’s will directly invest about $6.3 million in the State of Ohio in 2019.

Throughout 2019, Perry’s will immerse its brand throughout the Cleveland and Columbus markets through sponsorship and appearances at a number of events, including: 2019 Wiloughby Rib Burn Off (Cleveland), the Cleveland National Air Show, Columbus Jazz & Rib Fest, and the Ohio State Fair. Those interested in sampling Perry’s flavors will have the opportunity do so at the events.

In addition, Perry’s has signed a five-year partnership with the Columbus Clippers, triple-A baseball affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, to sell its custard at Huntington Park.

Perry’s covers a distribution network of over 100,000 square miles and is the 22nd largest ice cream brand in the country. Perry’s products can be found across Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey and Massachusetts.
