Local Businesses Assist Perry’s Ice Cream Team Members’ Community Returns Efforts

Akron, N.Y. – July 10, 2014 – Perry’s Ice Cream has a long-standing history and an ongoing commitment of leaving good footprints by supporting a variety of local organizations through donations and volunteer work.  Each quarter Perry’s team members give back to the community by participating in Community Returns events.  The C. Dee Wright Community Center in Akron, NY was chosen as the Community Returns partner for the second quarter of 2014.  Over the course of three months, Perry’s team members, helped by several local businesses, raised more than $1,300 on behalf of the center; a testament to the dedication the company and its employees uphold to giving back to the community.

The center was recommended by Brian Perry, fourth generation Perry and Executive Vice President and Vice Chairman of Perry’s Ice Cream.

“The programs at the C. Dee Wright Center are focused on the needs of local families and especially kids.  The school does a great job helping families during school hours and the school year but it’s after hours and during the summer where there was a void,” states Perry.  “I didn’t understand that until I got involved with the C. Dee Wright Center.  Our community is filled with a lot of caring individuals and groups that will lend a helping hand if they know where and what’s needed.  There’s nothing more rewarding than helping someone have a better day.”

Several events were held throughout the quarter to help raise money for the C. Dee Wright Center.  Employees took part in a number of Donate to Dress-Down days and baked goods sales, including “Muffins for Mom” – from McDuffies Bakery – and “Donuts for Dad” – from Paula’s Donuts, with part of these delicious baked goods donated and the rest provided to Perry’s at a discounted price for the program. There was also a flower sale in partnership with Bedford’s Greenhouse, with 10 percent of proceeds from Perry’s Team Member purchases donated to the C. Dee Wright Center.  Bedford’s graciously topped off the initial amount raised to total $500.
