Top Selling One Buffalo created in partnership with Pegula Sports & Entertainment Turns 1 and Zero Visibility is back to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Blizzard of ’77

Akron, N.Y. – January 24, 2017 – Snowstorms and sponge candy, as a Buffalo-based company for nearly 100 years, family-owned Perry’s Ice Cream finds success in flavors inspired by the city and embraced by our culture as uniquely “Buffalo”.

Two of those flavors are celebrating special anniversaries this week. A year ago, One Buffalo was the first food product introduced as part of Pegula Sports & Entertainment’s One Buffalo campaign. One Buffalo™ represents teamwork, a unified passion and pride of being part of the Buffalo community.

In 2016, the Perry’s team proudly collaborated with Kim Pegula to create a limited edition distinctive ice cream flavor that showcases local culture by incorporating sponge candy, the confection Buffalonians love. The flavor has since quickly become the top selling flavor in the Perry’s quart line.   Due to its huge success with consumers, Perry’s confirms the flavor will become a regular flavor in its line.

The second flavor, inspired by the icy wind and blustery cold that left Buffalo and its surrounding areas at a standstill from January 28 – February 1, 1977, Zero Visibility, is back in stores to commemorate the blizzard’s 40th anniversary.

Zero Visibility is released every five years and won’t be seen in freezers again until the blizzard’s 45th anniversary. Perry’s first launched Zero Visibility in 1997 to mark the 20th anniversary of the Blizzard of ‘77.

Both flavors feature Buffalo’s cityscape on the packaging.

“Our community’s response to ‘One Buffalo’, solidifies our region’s passion for the resurgence of our area, while ‘Zero Visibility’ honors our heritage,” noted Gayle Perry Denning, Vice President of Corporate Sustainability and Strategic Branding. “Offering flavors that stay true to who we are as a company and as Buffalonians will always be relevant, just don’t hold out for a chicken wing flavored ice cream, at least not yet, joked Denning. We get asked that question all the time.”

One Buffalo is a rich and creamy vanilla ice cream loaded with swirls of sea salt caramel, sponge candy pieces and fudge-coated pretzels. The flavor is available at retail locations in Perry’s quart line. One Buffalo is also available at the Key Bank Center, 716 Food and Sport, Blue Cross Arena in Rochester and local independent ice cream stands.

Zero Visibility is a snowy white coconut ice cream with a flurry of shredded coconut pieces and a hint of rum to warm your bones on a winter’s night. The flavor is available at retail locations in Perry’s family size (1.5 quart) line.

One Buffalo and Zero Visibility will be sampled at Buffalo-area Wegmans locations on January 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to celebrate both the blizzard’s anniversary and Wegmans 40 years in Buffalo.  Fun fact: The first Buffalo Wegmans store opening on Dick road was actually delayed due to the blizzard, which makes this flavor the perfect choice for this weekend.

In addition, Perry’s as the Official ice cream of the Buffalo Bills and Sabres features three other Buffalo-centric flavors in its line: Buffalo Sabres Top Shelf Sundae, Sundae at the Ralph™ and Bills Brownie Blitz.
