Product, Nutritional & Allergen Information
Is Perry’s real ice cream or frozen dairy dessert?
All Perry’s premium ice cream products are real ice cream, never frozen dairy dessert. At Perry’s, we pride ourselves in making ice cream that is richer, creamier and just tastes better, which is why we will never compromise on quality!
What makes your ice cream “real” ice cream?
According to standards set by the FDA, real ice cream must (1) contain a minimum of 10% dairy milkfat, (2) have no more than 100% overrun (amount of air whipped into ice cream during the freezing process) and weigh at least 4.5 lbs per gallon. Perry’s takes this a step further by producing ice cream that uses higher quality ingredients, has 30-90% overrun, and 11-14% butterfat, gaining us the “Premium Ice Cream” label you see on our products’ cartons. For more information on the difference between real ice cream and frozen dairy dessert, click here.
Do you have dairy-free ice cream?
Perry’s offers a variety of dairy-free ice cream flavors for you to enjoy at scoop shops! See our dairy-free ice creams here.
Where can I find allergens, ingredients and nutritional information?
Allergens, ingredients and nutritional information are available on each product page on our website. To see information for specific products, go to https://www.perrysicecream.com/products/, select a flavor, then click the “Nutritional Information” dropdown under the product description. All of this information is also available on the nutritional panel of each Perry’s Ice Cream carton.
Is Perry’s Ice Cream rBST free?
All Perry’s Ice Cream products feature rBST free milk and cream.* rBST is an artificial hormone used to increase milk production in cows. None of the milk and cream used in Perry’s Ice Cream products come from rBST treated cows.
*The FDA states that no significant difference has been shown between dairy derived from rBST-treated and non-rBST-treated cows.
Is Perry’s Ice Cream gluten free?
Perry’s has a variety of flavors available that are gluten free. The quickest way to browse our current gluten free flavors is by visiting our products page and filtering by “Gluten Free.” You can also look for the “Gluten Free” callout on the package in store.
It is important to note that our plant handles several allergens, including wheat. We do not manufacture our products on production lines dedicated to allergens or non-allergens, however we follow industry-standard Good Manufacturing Practices in handling allergens in our facility. After a flavor containing an allergen is produced, the equipment is appropriately washed and inspected by our team to ensure the equipment is clean before any new product is run. Why are your products labeled “contains a bioengineered food ingredient?
You may see this callout on some of our packages because those products contain an inclusion such as swirls, pieces, or flavors that are made with a bioengineered food ingredient. Per the FDA, common ingredients and additives that contain GMO crops include cornstarch, corn syrup, corn oil, soybean oil, canola oil and granulated sugar.

What is the difference between swiss chips and chocolate chips?
Swiss chips are a chocolate toffee-like candy coated in chocolate and have a crunchy texture. These are the crunchy, chocolatey bits you can find in our signature Mint-Ting-A-Ling!
Chocolate chips are small, molded bits of chocolate, like the ones you find in our signature Cookie Dough!
What is the difference between corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup?
While both corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup are ultimately made from the starch of corn, they are different products with distinctly different functions.
Corn Syrup contains glucose and maltose and is used in ice cream to soften texture, prevent sugar crystallization and help maintain quality in frost-free home freezers. It acts as a texture enhancer and protector while adding a bit of sweetness.
High Fructose Corn Syrup is created with corn syrup undergoes enzymatic processing to convert some glucose into fructose. It is sweeter than corn syrup and is primarily used as a sweetener in foods and beverages. It may also appear on labels as “corn sugar.”
Perry’s has utilized Corn Syrup in their formulation for over 20 years, but we do not utilize High Fructose Corn Syrup in any of our ice cream mixes. Occasionally, high fructose corn syrup may be a component in some of the inclusions that we put in our ice cream, which is why you may see it called out on an ingredient on some of our products. While we do our best to source inclusions that do not contain this component, we do utilize these ingredients in some of our products in order to offer a wide selection of flavors to our customers.
